I. As those who have fellowship with God and one another in the light of His Word, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we believe:
1. In one transcendent God who is eternally self-existent in three distinct persons; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit., who alone is Creator and Lord over, above and before all things universal. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8 and 48:16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; Hebrews 1:3).
2. In the person of God the Father, an infinite, eternal, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully and graciously in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death. (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalms 90:2; Psalms 102:27; John 3:16 and 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Titus 1:3).
3. In the person of God the Son (the divinity of Jesus Christ); His incarnation, virgin birth; His miracles, sinless life, the efficacy of His atoning death and glorious bodily resurrection, His bodily ascension to heaven, perpetual intercession for His church, and personal, visible return to establish His kingdom on earth for a thousand years. (Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1-2, 8:58 and 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 3:16; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 1:2; Revelation 1:8).
4. In the person of God the Holy Spirit, Who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who repent and believe in Christ; (Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 3:18; John 16:8-11; Romans 8:26 and 15:13,16; Hebrews 9:14).
5. That the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. (John 6:13, 14:16-17 and 16:8-11; Romans 8:26).
6. In the biblical account of creation and God as the Creator. (Gen.1-3, John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:16-17)
7. That God created mankind as either genetic/biological male and female (period)…. equal but different so as to complement and complete each other in the sacred, life-long union of monogamous marriage, which He ordained and instituted; rendering homosexuality, and all other “sexual preferences, orientations, identities and lifestyles” as unnatural and sinful as they oppose the design and provision of God for our lives. Therefore, we can neither approve of nor recognize such; or any corresponding marriage, civil union, or domestic partnership associated with them. (Lev.18:22-23, Matthew 19:4-6, 1 Cor.6:9, Rom.1:21-32, John 14:23-24).
8. That the Lord Jesus Christ validated the ordinance of marriage. (Matthew 19:4-5 and John 2:1-11)
a. ... exclusively as the sacred and legal union of one genetic male and one genetic female as evidenced by a marriage ceremony.
b. ... that legitimate, biblical sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage.
c. …that sexual activities such as, but not limited to, adultery, fornication, pre-marital sex, incest, polygamy, homosexuality, transgenderism, bisexuality, cross-dressing, pedophilia and bestiality are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church and that such immoral behavior, including the creation, viewing and/or distribution of pornography and efforts to alter one’s physical gender or gender related appearance are incompatible with a true biblical witness. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; John 4:16-18; Romans 1:18-32; I Corinthians 5:11, 6:9-11, 6:18-20, 7:1-3 and 7:8-9; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3-7; 1 Timothy 1:9-11)
9. That all people have sinned against God, and being therefore alienated from and in opposition to Him, are under condemnation however God mercifully and graciously saves and reconciles men unto Himself thru the gift of faith in Jesus Christ that, when willingly embraced, is evidenced by repentance from sin and a corresponding love and devotion to follow Jesus Christ as Lord.. (Acts 8:15-17; Ephesians 2:1-3 and 8-9; Romans 3:23 and 5:8; Titus 3:5).
10. In the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment…
a. …of those who’re reconciled to God, thru faith in Christ, to commendation, and the blessed estate of eternal life in the glorious presence, fellowship and love of God in heaven.
b. …of those who’ve chosen to remain in their natural state of enmity with God, through rejection of God’ free gift of salvation, to condemnation, and the cursed estate of eternal wrath and destruction apart from the presence, fellowship and love of God in hell. (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 5:3, 22, 16:27, 18:9 and 25:31-34; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 12:5; John 3:18; Acts 1:11; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Peter 1:4; Revelation 1:7, 19:11-16, 20:11-15)
11. That the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the wholly, divinely inspired Word of God, without error and are the infallible rule of faith and practice, and the standard by which all truth is known and all things are to be judged. (Isaiah 28:13; Nehemiah 8:8; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:3-4 and 1:21).
II. In addition, to avoid confusion and strife over doctrine, we hold that those who lead and teach (particularly youth and adults) at Calvary Chapel shall believe and uphold…
1. The doctrine of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church. (Isaiah 26:20; Matthew 24:29-31; Luke 21:36; Romans 1:18, 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-16 and 5:9; 2 Peter 2:7-9; Revelation 3:10, 5:7-10 and 7:13-14)
2. The present ministry of the Holy Spirit including the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Spirit according to the instructions given to us in 1 Corinthians 12-14; as evidenced primarily thru the overriding Agape Love of God in a believer’s life and regard for God and others. (1 Cor. 12:1-11, 13:1-11, 14:33, Matt.7:15-18, John 13:35, Gal. 5:22-25, Eph.4:7-8)
3. The King James Version (or the New King James Version) of the Bible as the most accurate translation from the original ancient text from which we, therefore, establish our doctrine as well as our standard and practice of faith. so as to discourage confusion and strife over various translations.
